4.8 "Beautiful hotel and lovely staff. A few snags to work out!"

We absolutely loved the hotel - from the moment we arrived and the fabulous welcome and scenery until the minute we left. The decor is fabulous and better than illustrated on the website. Very stylish design, gorgeous staff and the food was fantastic. We all thought the breakfast was among the best we had had anywhere. The dinner was a little pricey though and we were even charged 2.50 Euros for some chilli sauce! 160 Euros for dinner on our first night, so we ended up eating out for the rest of the time! There are definitely some improvements that can be made: firstly, the staff were always keen to ask if we needed anything and asked for feedback regularly. As friendly and warm as they were, our requests were not always met. We asked several times for 4 cups and 4 glasses in our room (there were 4 adults and only 2 of every piece of crockery). In the end, we just picked them up from the reception bar ourselves. For a family hotel, they were constantly short of highchairs and we had 2 meals with our daughter fed on our laps. Seriously, just order 20 more from IKEA! We also had to wait 24 hours for an umbrella on our terrace, meaning we couldn't use it for the first day. Umbrellas also seem to be in short supply! Music is a bit same but it didn't bother us too much. Pillows are all quite hard and you might need a degree to work out the lighting and aircon system!! That being said, it really was a fantastic experience. We all loved it and would return to the chain again. My only bugbear was that it is clear that there are some influencers/bloggers who had possibly been gifted a stay (can pretty much work this out through the instagram posts that these people were 'hosted'), so it does grate that some people were obviously on a jolly, while other guests were paying full whack. Last advice would be that this is definitely a family resort and I personally wouldn't contemplate coming here as a couple or same-sex group of friends. All in all though, we loved it!

4.8 "A quiet, calm, family break with amazing food!"

We just got back from a week at the Domes Zeen and had the most lovely time. The covid restrictions are being dealt with really well and it felt really safe. Having to book a table for dinner / breakfast was the only real compromise (we like to go with the flow on holiday) but it meant they could plan numbers and keep everyone safe. It's a small, intimate resort with lovely facilities and a great layout. One of the best things about the resort is the food. We ate in the Beach House restaurant which is right next to the pool and every meal was fabulous. The meals were fresh, of very high quality, and expertly cooked. We had beautiful cuts of lamb, steak, cured meats, and calamari and the moussaka was the best I have ever had. The desserts were also amazing. The staff at the resort are really great. They couldn't do enough for us the entire time. Our daughter had a birthday on our last day, and over the course of the day they presented her with 2 (yes 2!) birthday cakes, and while we were at dinner they decorated our room with balloons, banners and party hats. They even bought her a gift and wrote a birthday card for her. They even offered us the chance to go for dinner in the town, complementary, with a car both ways. But the restaurant was so good there was no need, and with Covid it just felt better to stay put. One thing I would say about the service is that things weren't as slick as they could be. You could tell it was a new team (either following the lockdown or because of the recent takeover). Individually the staff were fantastic but sometimes the lack of organisation showed. Often when phoning to make a reservation for dinner there was nobody to take the call which meant calling back (one day we tried 4 times to make a reservation). One night we got our bread after we had finished our main course. And the buggy to collect us to check out was just late enough to stress me out a bit! But even over the course of the week things were getting slicker and the service was much better. I'm sure the covid restrictions have disrupted them too. The only other issue (and the only reason we didn't score a 5/5) is the lack of aircon. The rooms are advertised as having aircon, but they don't. Its climate control which doesn't really cool the room very well, only to a minimum of 22 degrees, and relies on a fan which is loud and makes it hard to sleep as it feels like a gale force wind. However, when we mentioned this they really tried hard to make it better - and even offered us an upgrade to one of the beautiful villas. Overall - we would definitely really recommend this resort, especially during the current covid uncertainty.

5.0 "Luxury is an understatement"

A beautifully designed one year old hotel in an amazing location. Stayed here for five nights with my family. Certainly not a cheap option but worth every penny. The staff are ever so friendly. All were amazing but special mention goes out to Sofia and Panos from the restaurant who made out stay particularly memorable. The rooms are very well designed and contain everything you need and the beds are ever so comfortable although beware the end edges of the bed frame because they are sharp and can be lethal! The private pool we had was refreshing and ideal for an early morning or late night dip. The main area is located down towards the beach. This is where the restaurant and main pool are located. The pool is stunning and a wonderful temperature and as for the restaurant despite COVID restrictions with staff in masks, etc., the quality of the food and the service was impeccable. There is also a beach area with seats and umbrellas set up just a few metres away. The public beach is a little bit scruffy I suppose it could be argued but the water is so clear and warm so it is well worth a regular visit. Overall my family and I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and we would certainly consider visiting again.

5.0 "Top resort, with fantastic staff"

We were at Domes Zeen from 1 September till 9 September and enjoyed from arrival till departure a fantastic holiday. The resort is ZEN style and did big efforts to keep all guests safe for Covid19. We stayed in a tropical open plan suite with shared pool on the ground floor. Room was large, comfortable and very clean. Due to Covid protocol, our room was cleaned every 2 days which was in the new normal times no problem for us. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were served at the Beach House Restaurant. We loved their F&B concept > No Buffets. Daily reservation was needed to manage availability and to offer best service. Domes Zeen has a very nice large pool with enough comfortable sun beds and a private beach to relax. We did not use their spa. You can walk during the day to Chania Old Town along the coast (+/- 25 minutes). Thank you Christopher and ALL Domes Zeen staff for our great stay !!!! We plan to return in 2021 and recommend this resort for couples and families.

4.8 "Great hotel, great team, great pool, great food :) "

Spent a week at the Domes Zeen. Fantastic hotel, staff couldn’t do enough to help. Very sensitive to Covid which we felt put everyone at ease. Food is fantastic, breakfast as you would want it, and enough selection at dinner to keep you interested for a week, with top quality food, we loved the fish of the day, the whole sea bream in particular. I cant speak highly enough of the team in the restaurant and reception. Also great at helping where to visit, car hire etc. Rooms are great - modern, clean, spacious. Outdoor gym also very good. Pool area is gorgeous. Location wise the beach is ok, not the best. But good for a spell in the sun, but not really needed given the poolside in the hotel. Best beaches are a drive away and well worth hiring a car - Crete is stunning. Old Town is a 25 minute walk albeit slightly less appealing at times, but the Town is worth a visit. Would happily recommend the Domes Zeen

5.0 "My fav. destination"

One of the best resort I have been to, the service and hospitality was more than great. Foods was good, location is the best in Chania, great access to the public beach (I would consider it private). Very friendly and nice staff. I would highly recommend to both families and couples to visit this resort. I personally would go back to this place for sure.

4.8 "Very well looked after!"

I had originally planned on spending two nights at Domes Zeen and two nights at Dones Noruz but the latter did not open following the Covid-19 lockdown. As a result, I spent four wonderful nights at Domes Zeen. Originally opened as part of Thomas Cook’s Casa Cook luxury brand, the hotel became a Luxury Collection property after Thomas Cook’s collapse. It is primarily positioned as a family resort, with a kid’s club. It also has a decently sized outdoor gym. The hotel is located a mere 15-minute walk from Chania’s old town, easily walkable along the waterfront (and a very enjoyable walk it is too). I received a very warm welcome on arrival and the staff tried their best to accommodate my early check in request. I have to say, that the staff throughout the hotel have been exceptional! The front desk, the concierge, the restaurant staff... friendly, helpful, efficient, and very much go out of their way to make everything as perfect as possible. When I first got to my room, there was a minor leak from the ceiling (the island was experiencing a few days of the heaviest rain on record), and they immediately got an engineer in and had me in a new room in no time. I got upgraded to a room with a private plunge pool which was a fantastic treat. The rooms are spacious with floor to ceiling windows along two sides. The bed was very comfortable and there was a large sofa along the end of the room. The bathroom had a big walk in shower, double vanity sink, and a separate toilet. The content of the fridge was complimentary and there were also complimentary tea and coffee facilities. Complimentary bathroom amenities were by Byredo (Le Chemin). The pool area had two sun lounges as well as a lounge chair and an outdoor sofa area. Dining is limited to two restaurants; the Beach House, open everyday for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Enino, open on certain evenings in the week with a degustation menu. The Beach House did a great job in updating their menu often, especially at breakfast. Breakfast itself was fantastic - served a la carte, the “Day Start” includes a wonderful selection of cheeses, cured meats, freshly baked breads and pastries as well hot drinks. Then there is the option for eggs cooked to order, along with various sides including cooked food and cold dishes such as chia bowls, granola and yoghurt etc. Everything was always fresh and delicious. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the hotel. The staff absolutely made my stay a very memorable one, and I felt well looked after! Highly recommended
